Patterns with Threads and Nature’s Artists
Nature is full of hidden artists like birds and insects who weave and stitch things together long before humans did. If you look closely at your surroundings, you can see spiders spinning intricate webs or birds building complex nests using natural materials. These creatures use their instincts to create strong and functional designs that help them survive and raise their young ones safely.
A great example is the male baya weaver, which is a bird that builds beautiful hanging nests from grass strands. It carefully weaves the grass over and under each other to make a strong pouch that hangs from tree branches. While expert birds make very fine nests, the young ones who are still learning often make rougher versions as they practice their craft.
