Introduction
Gravitation is one of the fundamental forces of nature. Early observations by Galileo established that all bodies, regardless of their mass, fall towards the earth with the same constant acceleration. This universality of free fall laid the foundation for a deeper investigation into the nature of gravitational attraction.
Historical models of planetary motion evolved from the geocentric model proposed by Ptolemy to the heliocentric model advocated by Copernicus and supported by Galileo. Tycho Brahe's meticulous naked-eye observations were later analysed by Johannes Kepler, who derived three elegant laws of planetary motion that ultimately guided Newton to his universal law of gravitation.
