Acceleration describes the rate of change of velocity with time. Average acceleration over a time interval is defined as a = Δv/Δt = (v2 - v1)/(t2 - t1), and its SI unit is m s⁻². When two objects move in the same direction, the magnitude of their relative velocity is the difference of their individual speeds. When they move in opposite directions, the magnitude of relative velocity is the sum of their individual speeds. Position-time (x-t) graphs provide a visual description of motion. For uniform motion, the x-t graph is a straight line inclined to the time axis.
